I’m excited about getting the 2009 Peoria Pirates season started, but I’m even more excited about kicking
off another year of the Treasure Life student recognition campaign.
One of my fundamental beliefs with the Treasure Life program is that we tell students what not to do, but we
spend little time telling them what they can do. And even less time acknowledging good character.
With the support of Caterpillar and WMBD TV 31, I’m asking parents, teachers,
coaches, friends and neighbors to help me identify those students in the Peoria area that best represent Treasure Life character traits such as teamwork, respect, education, adversity,
sportsmanship, responsibility and effort.
Here’s how the recognition campaign works:
Each week before a Pirates home game, the chosen winners will appear on WMBD TV31. They will also receive four
(4) tickets to the Pirates home game that week and will be recognized on the field at halftime.

more about the Treasure Life program and the Peoria Pirates.
